Week 22 Bump Update!

Week 22 Bump Update!

This week was nice.. although still having alot of pelvic pain during the night. I also have a lovely cold which isn't nice either. My loving husband and I went to see the Lion King at the Palace Theatre in Manchester! It was a Xmas gift and this was his first time ever going to a musical.... at times he looked less than impressed - especially after I burst into song to " hakuna matata"  But truth be told a few times I caught a smile out of the corner of my eye... he liked it even though he'd never admit to it. haha.

Week 19 Bump Update! SEX REVEALED!

Week 19 Bump Update! SEX REVEALED!

I know I've not been here to update ... but with the holidays .. full time work and wifey-life I've been soooooooo busy!!! So last time we left off I was being referred back to my primary hospital , which we had an appointment with on the 28th and the babies seem to be doing good! There is still in fact one week but as it has not gotten any worse they are still putting it down to twin discordance but are still monitoring every two weeks. I won't bore any of you with repetitive information, if something surfaces I will write about it.

How far along? 19 weeks
Total weight gain: I've not been monitoring ... I think if I knew the number I'd think too much
Maternity clothes? omg yes still and I think I need more of them.
Stretch marks? no not really just some old ones.
Sleep: I have good nights and bad ones.. I think it has alot to do with my mind frame before I go to bed... I've noticed if I'm stressed I sleep worse.
Best moment this week: WE'RE HAVING GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miss anything? Walking without being in pain or major discomfort (my pelvic bone is starting to feel the pressure)

Belly button in or out? Its almost out. It's only about as deep as half of my fingernail.
Wedding rings on or off? On... but I'm starting to notice more swelling.
Happy or moody most of the time: Sad and very emotional

Week 16 Bump Update!

Week 16 Bump Update!

I missed a week! grrr guilty as charged! sorry everyone it's been a very busy two weeks. On Dec 18th we had our second appointment at Saint Mary's Hospital with the lovely specialist Dr. Chan.

We were told the twins still have a week between them but he concluded that this looks to be more than likely twin discordance and not ttts as we were suspecting. He has referred us back to our local hospital to continue scans every two weeks and keep an eye on the twins just to make sure that the ttts doesn't spontaneously occur as we know very well can still happen at any time.  We tired to find out the sex but nada! just couldnt because our little jumping beans were going insane... (probably off the chocolate milk i down prior to the scan hehe)
Also had a bit of an issue with my scheduling as my local hospital was supposed to be taking over and booking me in, as I had not heard from them to confirm any sort of appointment I had to call and chase with the appointment girl (I'm sure she has a real job title but her lack of help does not warrant one at this time ... :-P

I called and asked to know when my appointment was - she didnt know and would have to get back to me
she then called back - 5 hours later
and the date she booked me in for - 5 weeks later towards the end of Jan!! to which I politely and in my most annoyingly sweet voice told her that this was a bit ridiculous considering I'm supposed to be having them every two weeks under orders of the specialist.
her response ...... They were full booked up and this was the earliest they had!

I'm not one to moan or go ape-shit but these are my babies we're talkin' about here.... so I calmly hung up with her and got straight on the phone with St. Mary's Hospital. I spoke to this lovely midwife (cant remember her name - shame on me) and she said "absolutely NOT! that is far to late and get on the phone to them and straighten this up right away for you and call you right back"
I must admit I was laughing inside a bit (ooooooooooo someone's gonna get it! haha)

About half an hour past and I received a phone call from what sounded to me like a very annoyed young woman calling from my local hospital. Wow... what do you know a slot just opened up I was set up for another ultrasound for Dec 28th. She of course had to let me know they they had received a call from St. Mary's Hospital in Manchester. Damn right you did!

How far along? 16 weeks
Total weight gain: not sure... but I think the scale just went past the 11 stone... now it says "Chunk"
Maternity clothes? yup
Stretch marks? I haven't checked on this actually
Sleep: better but I have noticed if I sleep on one side I feel the babies on that side the next morning.
Best moment this week: being told still no sign of TTTS and saw my babies CUDDLING!!!!!
Miss anything? Sleeping on my tummy ... I miss that!
Movement: Yea .. at least I think so! feels almost like after you had a big meal and things are shifting.
Food cravings: chocolate milk
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope not anymore !!! yay!
Gender: :-( noooo no not yet but maybe for the next scan!
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Lightheaded and feeling dizzy
Belly button in or out? on it's way out.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or moody most of the time: cray baby.

12 week ! Just wow

Week 12 Bump Update! *Ultrasound Week*

This week has been the most testing week thus so far. On Thursday Nov 22nd we attended our first ultrasound. Given the circumstances and past history of miscarriages (2 prior - 1 natural early MC and 1 Missed MC) we were very nervous going in and very much prepared for any bad news.  The reality being that the fetus had no heartbeat (which is what happened last November). Our names were called into the ultrasound tech room and we walked in followed by the tech.  She asked me to lay on the table and expose my tummy, she then began the ultrasound and the room went very quiet.  This of course freaked me out and I looked over to my husband to reassurance but had no expression (personally I don't think he knew himself what he was looking at) The tech said "heres the heartbeat". We both were grinning from ear to ear then she said "oh here's another heartbeat, looks like you have two in there!" SHOCKED! how could there be two? We don't have twins in either of our families... it was a big surprise.

Unfotunatly our joy was short-lived as the tech said that the babies are not the same size, the smaller one is about a week smaller in gestational age and seems to have a thick nuchal fold, the babies also are sharing a placenta and seem to be in a shared sac - making them Monoamniotic-Monochorionic. With mo/mo twins (short for Monoamniotic-Monochorionic) they are the highest risk pregnancy you can have in twins. Only 1% in twin pregnancies are this type. Along with this issue arrives a whole host of risks:

We have now been referred to a specialist, and our next appointment will provide us with options and more insight as to what can be done.  We are in for a difficult and long journey with our little ones.

How far along? 12.3 weeks
Total weight gain: I look about 4-5 months pregnant which is pretty normal for twin pregnancies
Maternity clothes? Not yet, but i might need to get some very soon.
Stretch marks? nothiing as of yet
Sleep: sleeping is horrible... I've been sleeping on my left side to improve my circulation to the babies and I'm simply not used to sleeping on this side.
Best moment this week: Being told we're having twins :)
Miss anything? Sleeping on my tummy ... so comfy.
Movement: I think I've been feeling movement since week 11 (which I heard is common in twins) I simply thought it was my imagination.
Food cravings: chocolate milk
Anything making you queasy or sick: Morning sickness is not as bad anymore and not really an issue.
Gender: :-( noooo but after looking at the ultrasound photos I think they are girls.
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Lightheaded and feeling dizzy
Belly button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or moody most of the time: nervous and on edge.. given the circumstances I'd say this is to be expected.
Looking forward to: Being told there is nothing serious with my babies and something can be done to better my chances and their chances of survival.
